Seared Ahi Tuna Salad Nicoise

Wolfgang's Seared Ahi Tuna Salad Nicoise

Ok so I decided to make a whole post about my newly found favorite salad... seared ahi tuna salad nicoise. For those of you who don't know me, I'm a big foody. One of my favorite things to do is eat good food. I love dining out and it just so happens so does my boyfriend so it works out well. We love going out to eat and trying different things. So expect a lot of food pictures. Anyways, last Christmas I went to Wolfgang's Steakhouse (one of my fav fine dining restaurants) for brunch and I wasn't really in a steak mood although it is a steak restaurant. I wanted something a little light so I decided to try their seared ahi tuna salad nicoise. I wasn't expecting much since it's just a salad with tuna. But omg when I took my first bite, I was in heaven and I would have to say that was the best salad I've ever eaten. I think what made it taste so good besides the dressing is that the seared tuna had anchovies on top which really complimented each other. From then on, I was obsessed with that salad. But every place I went either didn't have it or didn't make it the same as Wolfgang's (with the achovies on top). I was on a search.. but failed.

Well I had a late lunch yesterday with my friends Cynthia & Sarah and found that they had the tuna salad nicoise. I was overjoyed and excited, but then I read the ingredients and it didn't say anchovies. I was a bit dissapointed because I was craving it so badly. Well I asked the waiter if they put anchovies in their salad nicoise and he said they don't but he could ask the chef to see if they had any and to put some in. Well surprise suprise, they did have anchovies and the chef was nice enough to put them on top of my seared ahi. You don't know how happy I was. Yes I know, I'm easy to please. The salad was delish, but not as good as the one at Wolfgang's. But it did satisfy my salad nicoise craving :)

I suck at updating.

Yes, I do realize that I haven't updated my blog since October. It's not that I have forgotten about it (well maybe a little lol) but I've also been VERY lazy & too tired to even blog out my daily life. I do update LJ a bit more but that's cause I'm use to it and cause those entries are more personal and for myself. But I've made it a goal to update my blogspot more often and it helps that my friends are updating more on here which will make me want to update =)

Sooooo..it's a new year! Can't believe January is nearly over and I am 24 ;______; *cries* To some it may not be a big deal, but it kind of is a big deal to me. I know I'm not "old" but gosh... 24 just sounds so much more mature & older than 23. Oh well, I guess I got to make the most of it! I will say though that this birthday celebration was one of the better ones. It wasn't so overly crazy like last year but I still had fun just being with my friends & lover.

I was debating for awhile whether to have my birthday at Apt3 (which I adore) or Benihana (the restaurant my bf works at). Although Apt3 is definetely a more party/chic atmosphere, my bf somehow convinced me that Benihana would be a good place to have my birthday plus he would request the good chefs for me :)

Since my bday falls on MLK day (Jan 18), I figured it would be better to just celebrate it the day before.. that way I'd be able to stay out later and so could everyone else :D I decided that my theme would be... of course... Hello Kitty. Common, how could I not? Plus I have yet to do a HK theme so I was pretty excited. Don't worry I didn't go all Hello Kittied out and wear like a huge red bow. I decided to go for the more dark side of HK. I wore a black strapless frilly/layered dress that I actually bought awhile ago from Peaches n Cream (one of my fav stores). I hadn't worn it yet because I was waiting for the right occasion to wear the dress. I figured it was perfect to wear on my bday, plus I didn't want to go shopping for anymore clothes since I already have clothes in my closet that I have yet to wear!! I wore my black bowed headbead to match to make it look more Hello Kitty-ish. And some bling & things to make my outfit *sparkle*

I also made Hello Kitty goody bags for all the girls and brought my own Hello Kitty straws to the party lol. I was so happy that most of my friends & their bfs could make it to the dinner :) Although it sucked cause we had to be put on 2 tables across from each other since there was too many ppl.

Dinner was delish as always. I got my usual lava flow (which is the only drink I get there cause they make it taste so good) and for dinner I ordered filet mignon & lobster with garlic fried rice. So yummy! I was unbelievably full after eating like half of it since the portion is so big. I could see it in everyone's face that they were getting full too. But they had to leave room for my Hello Kitty cake!! Seriously, I paid $80 for that cake.. you better fcking eat it lmao. It was the cutest cake everrr... and it had pink macaroons around it, although that stuff tasted like sh*t lol. But the cake itself was a really yummy not too sweet strawberry shortcake. Almost reminded me of Saint Germain's strawberry shortcake but a little bit better.

After dinner, I didn't do anything too crazy. Just had a couple drinks at Doraku and the Grove Bar. Thank you to all my friends & lover who came and for all the lovely gifts & bday shots! You guys are the best =) I'll end this with some pics from the night.
Oh yea btw I'm in love with my iphone car kit that plays all my music from my iPhone.. thanks to the lover! He got me a bunch of things for my iPhone since he knows how obsessed I am with it tehe.
